The first plate had 293 colonies, whereas the second had 158 colonies. Suggest reasonable sources of error.

  • Your dilution is still too concentrated. You have colonies being “on top of each other” or formed from more than one bacterium.

    Go with about one-tenth that concentration. The idea here is to get about 20-30 colonies on your plate.
