    But, here’s the answer anyway… a 750 watt motor would be rated as a 1 horsepower motor, since a horsepower is defined as 746 watts.

  • There are many systems of units for measuring physical quatities.

    In British system of units power is measured in horse power.

    S.I system is intended to be used universally and in that system power is measured in watt (W).

    Just as we say 1 dolar of U.S.A is equivalent to 50 rupees in Indian currency, we say 1 horse power in British unit is equal to 750 watt in S.I system of units.
