  • The net force is zero. Gravity is exerting a downward force on the book of 6N, and you are exerting an upward force on it of 6N. The two forces cancell each other…

  • whenever an object is at rest, the net force on it is always zero. although gravity is pulling down with force, your head is pushing back with an equal amount of force to keep it in place:
