Someone told me once that it is best to divest yourself of as many false beliefs as possible before embarking on a quest for the light.
He also advised that one should put down everything they know every once in a while. (it will be there later, you can pick it up again if you so choose).
Meditation also teaches one to empty their mind.
You ever notice how the holy grail is depicted as a cup? Somehow the knowledge flows when the receptor is able to receive it. An empty bowl, an open mind. Maybe it’s like that. 😉

A full bowl has it’s potential realized already. It’s made to hold something and it holds something, end of the story. An empty bowl can be used to hold something, it can be used to scoop something, it can be used to draw circles, it can be used to put over something upside down, etc. Being empty makes it most useful. Because if it’s full it won’t make anything, as it’s full, you aren’t able to place it upside down… ETC. Well, logic 🙂

Laozi I don t mean no disrespect, but you need to fill that bowl up with some **** that makes some sense.

The function of a bowl is to be filled with stuff. If a bowl is full, it is not useful anymore.
Another interpretation of this saying:
“It is the empty space which makes the bowl useful”
