Stimulus Checks December 2024: IRS Fourth Stimulus Checks Coming in December or Not?

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals are wondering if they will receive a fourth round of stimulus checks from the IRS in December 2024. States offering Rebates

While the IRS will not be providing a fourth stimulus check, some states in the USA are offering rebates to their residents. It is important to note that these rebates should not be confused with stimulus checks, as they are separate forms of financial assistance.

Are Fourth Stimulus Checks Coming in December 2024?

In December 2024, several states, including Alabama, Virginia, Arizona, and others, will be issuing rebates to eligible individuals within their respective states. Let’s take a closer look at what each state is offering:

Alabama

Residents of Alabama who filed their 2021 Tax Return, which was received by the Alabama Department of Revenue by October 17, 2022, may be eligible to receive a one-time rebate in December 2024. The Department of Revenue will begin disbursing the rebates starting on December 1, 2024. Eligibility for the rebate will be determined based on the 2021 Tax Return, and there is no need to apply separately for the rebate.

The rebate amounts for different filing statuses are as follows:

  • Single, Married (Filing Separately), and Head of Family: $150
  • Married (Filing Jointly): $300

If an individual received a refund on their 2021 Tax Return via direct deposit, the same account will be used to deposit the rebate. Those who wish to receive the rebate by paper check and have changed their address will need to update their address by November 29, 2024, at 5 PM.

Virginia

In Virginia, eligible individuals will receive their tax rebates by November 30, 2024. The rebate amount will be based on the 2020 Tax Return, which must be filed by November 1, 2024. Those who had a tax liability in the previous year may receive up to $200 (individuals) or up to $400 (joint filers) as a rebate.

Rebates will be provided through paper checks or direct deposits, depending on the individual’s previous refund method. If someone uses a standard deduction, they are not required to pay taxes on the rebate. However, those who itemize their deductions must report the rebate as income on their federal return. To determine eligibility for the rebate, individuals can use the online tool provided by the Virginia Department of Taxation.

Arizona

Residents of Arizona who have filed their 2021 tax returns and claimed at least one dependent tax credit may be eligible for the Arizona Families Tax Rebate. This one-time rebate is available to individuals with an Arizona Personal Income Tax liability of at least $1 in either the 2021, 2020, or 2019 tax year.
