“Dragon” is a term given to various species of lizard including the Komodo dragon of Indonesia and the dragon lizards, such as the bearded dragon and the water dragon, of Australia. These lizards, along with all the other sauropsids, have a common ancestor with monkeys that lived about 310 million years ago. Monkeys and lizards are distantly related.
