I am VERY lactose intolerant I get sick from even just 0.1 g of lactose. I drank a glass of milk before i knew I was lactose intolerant and had to go to the hospital twice for it. Can i die from drinking too much dairy?/having to much lactose? Even lactase pills wont help me.
Yes i am actually lactose intallerant, ive seen my doctor and everythign for it.

When you say “sick”, are you describing only gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, bloating, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, other stomach-related things), or do you also experience symptoms like your throat (or other things) swelling, hives, skin rash, itching, or other symptoms typical of allergic reactions?
If it’s just GI distress, you may just be lactose intolerant, but it’s certainly very unusual to need hospitalization for it. If your only problem *is* lactose intolerance, yes, it is theoretically possible to die from it, as it is theoretically possible to die from any condition that presents with diarrhea and vomiting, but in practice, since you live in the first world, chances are high that somebody would notice you were severely dehydrated and rush you to the ER before it actually got to that point.
If you’re allergic to milk to the point of anaphylaxis (which seems more likely given that you’ve been hospitalized twice for this problem), then yes, you most certainly could die from this. Read up on milk allergies to find out what sorts of ingredients to look out for and stay away from them, don’t eat anything unless you know first-hand what’s in it (don’t even trust your friends when they say “oh, there’s no dairy in this!”, because people are stupid and will assume things like cream of mushroom soup don’t count), and if you can swing it, carry an epi-pen.

I am also lactose intolerant. Lactose intolerance is the inability to metabolize lactose, a sugar found in milk and other dairy products, because the required enzyme lactase is absent or its availability is lowered. Estimated 70% of adult humans are lactose intolerant. Bascially the effects are getting sick (stomach aches) and your body might not be absorbing the Vitamins (calcium, vitamin A and D) since your body does not process the dairy correctly. So for this you should take Vitamin suppliments. Try soy milk (made from rice), its nutrious and won’t make you sick!

No – you can’t die from lactose intolerance.
The symptoms you are describing are NOT lactose intolerance. More like you have a problem with dairy proteins.

I know people who are lactose intolerant, it’s a normal thing, in my family we drink LOTS of milk, so if me or my brother were lactose intolerant we would probably die, we cannot go without milk.
But seeing as how you are JUST realizing you are lactose intolerant you will probably be fine, just don’t drink lactose things!!

No, it’s an intolerance not an allergy. Being lactose intolerant just means you are missing the enzyme required to break down lactose.
Now, are you sure you are lactose intolerant? Or could you really be allergic to dairy?

No you wouldn’t die, you just shouldn’t eat dairy. The human body can only digest lactose due to a mutation that is now considered the norm. You just don’t have that mutation, it’s perfectly normal. Just drink soy milk from now on.

NO, to the best of my knowledge you will not die, even though it does feel like it. Please look into dairy substitutes like rice, almond or soy milk. It’d be much better if you just avoided dairy all together.
I too am very lactose intolerant. So, I understand. Best of luck!

A condition that severe is probably uncommon, but theoretically possible. Since you know lactose bothers you, just avoid it.
