capital one card app scam?

NetherCraft 0

i just got something in the mail from capital one. its inviting me to apply for a credit card. i cant either mail in the app they mailed to me or go online at application.capitalone.com. theres a reservation code and an access code and it’s only a limited time offer. im skeptical of the validity of the application. i would apply online but it asks for me to provide my ssn and i def don’t want my identity stolen.

is this a scam or does it at least SOUND like a scam?

  • You are under no obligation to give your SS number out for a credit card application. There are some cards that will reject you for not giving it to them, but it is not required and this info can be found on the Social Security Website.

  • Capital One Application

  • With your social security number, birth date and address these scanners will drain money from your accounts. Please believe that this scam is run by hackers who are very good at what they do. If you are interested in a Capitol One credit card have a bank representative do it for you. I recommend you not to fall for this scam. It s a hoax and a way to get all of your personal information. Finally, Capitol One does not send out application invitations unless you had previously requested them to do so. I guarantee you that 80% of the online credit card offers are nothing but scams. I have friends who had their personal banking accounts drained and in other cases lost thousands upon thousands of dollars, and even their homes. Avoid anything to do with on line credit cards or credit check companies!

  • It’s legit. If you go to the actual Capital One site at http://www.capitalone.com,/ there’s a link there you can click to respond to the mail advertisement. That link leads you right to application.capitalone.com, so you know that site is real.

    No scam.

  • It doesn’t sound like a scam. Try calling capital one directly.
