cheapest car insurance companies?

NetherCraft 0

I just bought a car a few days ago. Of course the dealership wouldn’t let me leave without car insurance so I hurried and got a quote from some companies

State Farm wanted 618 a month

Allstate wanted 503 a month

Nationwide wanted 218 a moth which is not that bad but they also wanted a 900 deposit so that was also crossed off the list.

The best deal I got was from progressive I only had to pay a 140 deposit, but they want 390 a month so I just went with them just until I can find a cheaper company, but WTF? Are people really paying this much for insurance? My mom said it might be because I’m only 19 years old but why do insurance companies expect a 19yr old guy to afford 500/600 a month for car insurance?! Please if you guys know any affordable companies please let me know.

  • Did you try GEICO? I tried State Farm for 3 years ages 16 to 19 and I was paying like 230 a month on a 2008 Dodge Caliber. I then switched to met life to pay 200 on the same car. Last January however I bought a 2014 Ford Focus and switched to GEICO for 99 bucks a month. I’m currently 22 I was 20.

  • You’re supposed to look up the cost of insurance before financing a car, genius. Asking your mom what it should cost doesn’t really count.

You’re 19, very new to driving, and you’ve got тᴇsтιcʟєs. To any insurance company, that makes you the scariest thing in the world. Insurance rates are based entirely on risk levels, and risk levels are determined by statistics. Since the dawn of the automobile, insurance companies have been assembling statistics on car accidents. Year after year, decade after decade, the numbers have been the same. Young guys hit things more often and harder than absolutely anyone else. They think you’re going to drive like every other teenage guy has driven over the past 50 years, and that’s why they’re charging so much.

Don’t look for a cheap insurance company, it’s not there. There isn’t an insurer out there who doesn’t know the risks posed by young guys, because if there were they would have gone bankrupt a week after they oƿє-ṅєd.

  • “why do insurance companies expect a 19yr old guy to afford 500/600 a month for car insurance?”

Because insurance companies have dealt with a lot of 19 year olds and know what to expect. 19 year olds are a terrible risk for insurance companies.

There are no “Cheapest car insurance companies”.

  • There are some drivers who are really paying that little for insurance, but most of them are younger than you. Drivers your age often have to pay a lot more. Anything under $1000 a month is cheap for a driver your age in many places.

Insurance companies expect a 19 year old guys to pay that much because they have so many accidents that the insurance companies would lose money if they didn’t charge that much. They don’t care how (or if) you can afford it. If you can’t afford it, then you can’t have a car until you are older. They don’t expect you to get a car if you can’t afford the insurance. They expect you to wait until you can afford it.

  • Who is dumb enough to buy a car before getting price quotes on the insurance and arranging for the insurance to start on the date of the purchase ?

Oh, that would be you. No one here can find you any cheaper insurance, as no one here works for an insurance company, nor knows all your required personal info, and you also didn’t tell us the make/model/year/mileage of the car, genius.

Insurance on 19 year old men is that high because 19 year old men commonly think they are far better drivers than they actually are, and so, wreck a LOT of cars.

  • There won’t be any “cheap” insurance companies for you. Why? Because you are an unmarried male under age 25.

I agree that $390. per month ( $4680. per year) is outrageous but you should have thought of the cost of insurance BEFORE you bought the car.

For comparison. I am a married male over age 25, live in a small city in the Midwest and I pay $630. for an entire year ! I have high liability limits, no deductible comprehensive, $250. deductible collision and all of the rest of the bell and whistle coverage’s.

Consider this: When I was your age, so that I could afford it, I drove an older car that needed only liability coverage & did not need any comp or collision.

  • Question is, can you afford to pay this for the next 5 years, which I am guessing is the length of your loan? Until the vehicle is paid off, you will need to have collision, comprehensive and liability.

Are you in school? If so, do you have school loans? If so, when you graduate, you will then need to start paying off the student loans.

If, you default on the insurance, or your loan due to the combined car payment and insurance, then they can repossess your vehicle. I hope you have a decent job that you don’t quit or get fired.

    good luck

  • At 19 years of age you are in the most expensive age group for motor vehicle insurance. You have no control of that fact.

Your quote from Nationwide is extremely reasonable for your age group. Plus, they are a very reputable insurer. I’d jump on that coverage quote immediately. Anyone who can offer a less cost will likely offer less coverage quality as well.

  • I suggest one to try this internet site where you can get quotes from different companies: http://insureforeverybody.info/index.html?src=5YAy…

  • Geico is actually really good. I pay 180/month for 2 adults, and 3 cars.
