  • amoeboid: pseudopodia (“false feet”) that captures prey

    flagellates: they use a whip-like structure called a flagellum or flagella if more than 1

    ciliates: cilia (tiny hair like extensions on the surface)

    *these three defense structures are also used for locomotion
