Does power steering fluid expire?

I found an oƿє-ṅєd bottle while cleaning out some things. It is about three years old. Is it still good, or should I dump it? And if I need to dump it, how do I dispose of it properly?

  • It’s still good. Old brake fluid in a bottle/can that has been oƿє-ṅєd is the only thing that should be suspect, as it absorbs moisture over time. If you do dump it, most auto parts stores collect used oil for free as a community service.

  • If it was sealed it should probably be good. If disposing of it you can probably take it to a local garage and they should take it for you and thank you for asking about proper disposal.

  • remember that most fluids absorb water, ask a garage to dispose of it for you.

  • it should be ok as long a the lid was tightly on if it was off/loose dirt and/or moisture could have got into it and it could mess things up

  • It should still be OK to use, as long as it’s been sealed up and hasn’t be contaminated in any way.
