E-mail has made communicating with students, parents, and colleagues almost instantaneous. Printers and copy machines have replaced ditto masters and mimeographs. The old movie, slide, and filmstrip projectors have been replaced by a variety of easier-to-use video and DVD capabilities. Teachers can play CDs and download music, film clips, and slides to be shown through LCD projectors or on smart boards.
Previously, students’ research was limited to available library sources, homework was handwritten or typewritten, and such simple tools as Wite-out did not exist. They even practiced their math problems on chalkboards! Today’s students can do research from the Internet, create PowerPoint presentations, and edit films digitally. Homework can be completed on computers and submitted electronically. While the desks may not have changed very much, the classroom is a radically different place than it used to be.

Well, it’s hard to say because I’m not a teacher, and I’m definitely not an examiner but you get marks for what the question asked you to do, and if you didn’t do that, then yes, you probably will be marked down, I haven’t a clue how much, but it might depend on how good quality the rest of your work is, if it’s really good and you’ve referred to the extract from the first book then maybe you won’t be heavily penalised for it. I wish you good luck though! Always read questions properly and plan what you’re going to write beforehand, it helps A LOT! 🙂
