So I have a full bred red nose pitbull who is the most amazing dog in the world, trained perfectly and completely obedient and wouldnt hurt a fly. My apartment complex has breed restrictions that includes pitbulls and say he is not allowed to live here. My question is how would I be able to come up with paperwork to say he is a boxer/lab mix or similar accepted breed, so that I can keep my beloved dog. Please help me, pitbulls have such a bad reputation but in truth they are the sweetest dogs in the world.
Well we have been living here with the dog already for about 6 months. He doesnt bark, I always take him on walks away from the apartment community and he has caused no harm whatsoever to the complex or residents. I went to the office and talked to them today and said that he was a boxer/lab mix, and they said they would approve him staying if i could show paperwork that he is a boxer/lab. They didnt act stern or strict on the matter.
So my question is, can anyone help me with info on how to acquire paperwork so that he can stay..?
please & thank you

Or you could be a responsible adult and find somewhere to live that accepts pits.

To all you people who saying she should move your crazy. yes after your lease is up you should move but if you get documents from a vet that say you have a boxer lab mix they only way you can be kicked out your apartments after that is if you do a DNA test and they see it if you get the papers that say he is a boxer lab mix he will be able to stay and when someone says you have a pitbull the apartments will send a note out stating their is a dog that is whatever color your dog is that looks like a pitbull but that they have papers saying the dog is a boxer lab mix and to please stop complaining if people was to keep complaining they would tell you to find a place and move no broken lease will follow you they will just let you out your lease and to the dumb person that said they will take your dog and put him to sleep is retarded they cant take your dog unless he hurts someone dumb people in this world sorry for any misspelled words are anything this is a touchy subject for me I am a retired lawyer and still fight for the pitbull and all bully breeds if you find a vet that loves the breed they will do it if your dog is not aggressive if he is they will not do it lol people are so funny its nothing wrong with bending the rules to keep your dog when all these people have done something in their life time and also we fought slavery all these years and now all they doing is stereotyping and basically being racist towards dogs that have such loyalty they would kill for their owners and if you bring up I seen or heard about a pit turning on its owner know this its always another side to every story

BOSTON TERRIER! i own 2 and they are wonderful little dogs! Good for apartment sizes. They do require about 30-45 mins of exercise a day and shouldn’t be left out in heat or cold! The 2nd dog i would suggest is a Dachshund. They require some exercise but not a WHOLE lot. They also have short sleek hair (if u get a shorthair) and I don’t think they bark a whole lot. EDIT: Basenji’s do in fact make noise…its called a yodel. They make more of a yodel sound then a bark it’s not really loud either!

I acn appreciate that you love your dog and I can appreciate that pit bulls get a bad name often. BUt that does not give you the right to not only break your lease agreement. (Yes that is what you are asking help with by wanting to represent the dog as a more acceptiable breed) which could lead you to eviction. but to also bring some unsuspecting vet or company in to say your dog is soemthing it is not. I know people like to ‘bend rules” but what would happen if someone “bent a rule” for something that you find offensive or scary. FOr example I follow all the rules where I live. Other people do not, they don’t get in trouble for it. DOes it bug me yeah! does it sometimes make me feel like breaking the rules, Yeah! do I do it? no, because I have to live with myself and my actions. Remember that every action has an equal or greater reaction what you do comes back to you all of that type of stuff. Be HONEST!

I’m doing basic obedience right now. My trainer hasn’t once handled my dog. He has shown me how to handle my dog by using his own dog but that’s about it. The reasoning is that I need to learn how to do these basic corrections and what not myself. Learn more https://tr.im/zLXs2
I have never considered sending my dog away for training. I guess I haven’t found that much of a problem with him to even think about it.
Again, it may also have to do with the level of training you are looking for etc. No idea lol. I’m not a trainer. I think a first time dog owner needs to learn simple commands and how to handle their dog themselves as well.

I suggest you find new living quarters. Yes they are/can be a great breed and do get a bad rap but you really need to abid by the apartment complex rules. If they (landlord or even people who also live there) even think your dog has pit in him that could warrant them to kick you out right away. It can be a challenge to find a Pit friendly apartment complex but they are out there.

I’d move to a place that allows pit bulls, because if someone did find out he’s really a pit bull and reported it, he could get taken away and put to sleep. Its highly likely that someone would report him, because most people assume any bully breed is an APBT and it wouldn’t be difficult for someone to confirm his real breed despite what papers say since papers aren’t always correct anyway (my mom’s dog’s papers say he’s a completely different breed than what he really is – the vet just assumed instead of asking us what his breeds really are). It would be really heartbreaking to lose your dog, I wouldn’t risk it.

Sorry, too risky. If a neighbor or your landlord sees that your dog clearly isn’t a lab/boxer/whatever mix they can make a call to animal services to have your “amazing dog” removed. Is that really something you would risk if you really cared about the animal? Move to an apartment complex that doesn’t have breed restrictions.
