Using the chemical equation: 4KO2+2CO2→2K2CO3+3O2 How many moles of O2 are produced when 0.425 mol of KO2 reacts in this fashion? Also, how many grams of KO2 are needed to form 6.5g of O2? And how many grams of CO2 are used when 6.5g of O2 are produced?

  • So it’s simple math. set up the equation and put the words into math.

    1) 0.425 mol x 3mol/ 4mol = .319 mol

    2) 6.5g x 188g / 32g = 38.2 grams —-> convert to formula weight

    3) 6.5g x 44g / 32g = 8.9 grams
