Me and my friend has a debate. I told her if someone cellphone go straight to voicemail, its a few things. 1. They have it shut off, or 2. They are on the phone. Even if the phone is on silent, it will not go straight to voicemail. It would ring but the person cant hear it. The only times a person phone goes straight to voicemail is if they are on the phone. If they have the phone on their hip in a phone case there is no way possible it will go straight to voicemail, unless they were on the phone. I know I am right. But please give us some insight.Thank- You!

There are 2 times when a phone will go straight to voicemail and not ring.
1) if the phone is turned off (not the service, just the phone)
2) if the phone is not getting a signal.
It may be possible for the phone to go straight to voicemail if the person you are dialing is on the other line does not have call waiting.

if someone is calling a phone and it goes straight to voicemail where others it doesn’t is because the person has their cell phone settings for the caller to go straight to voicemail where other callers can call just fine. My friend does this all the time and told me. He has it so when his dad calls or someone he feels important he has it set so he can be reached where with me when i try to call him it goes to voicemail. He complained that i never call him and when i tell him i do but it goes to voice mail he laughs and says oh yes im busy those days and do not want to be disturbed. So i simply stop calling.Personally i feel its ignorant

Either 1. the phone is off or 2. they have no signal. Being on the phone does not cause it to go straight to voicemail.

YES You all have it all together ( they turn it off – they block YOU – they set it to go to voicemail – they PRESS ignore when YOU call ) these are reasons why you get voicemail other then the really reason which is it automatically comes on after several rings which we all know about.

living in fl. and on att, the phone can be on, not being used and not being held for some reason time to time will go to voicemail instead of ringing. No one knows why, just happens. Can call right back and will ring. thaks gene

It could mean that you have a dial direct voicemail system like Straight-to-voicemail . com
