Is it grammatically correct to say ‘I would have rathered if you had not said that’ ?

  • I would rather you hadn’t said that. Although, the best way to say it would be: “I wish you hadn’t said that.”

  • It is correct, but better if the “if” were removed. Rather can be used as a verb, and “rathered” is the simple past tense and past participle.

  • I would have preferred that you hadn’t said that.
