  • Than

  • Longer than:)

  • It would be “longer than” because you use than when comparing things or choosing things. For example, 1) he is heavier than ___ (comparing), 2) Rather than walk, I prefer to ride (choosing). Then is used for referencing times, generally. For example,1) I went shopping and then I ate dinner. Or 2) We were waiting for an hour and then the bus came. I hope this helps you a little.

  • Longer than expected. Never NEVER write “longer then expected”.

  • longer than

  • long, longer, longest

    It is long

    It is longer THAN that.

    It is the longest

… basic grammar with regard to adjectives

    So, in ”longer **** expected”

I’d expect to have used ”than” rather than ”then”.

THEN is usually used as a LINK word in cases like:

I took a bus to town, then took a train to London, then took a taxi to my lover’s lair…

  • I always feel bad when I skip a long question,so I tend to at least run over the text just to know what’s going on in the question

  • The correct sentence would be “Sorry but my work is taking longer than expected”.

  • ” than ” is generally used in sentences belonging to comparative degree. For example….

This pencil is longer THAN that.

    Likewise

I write no longer THAN expected.

” than ” usually refers to the time of an any action. For instance………..

The dreadful accident occured in our town but THEN I was not present in our town.

    Thanks.
