• i believe the chant is spanish, not english, and i don’t know much about old spanish songs so can’t tell you where the tune originally came from. it is an expression used to express excited approval. i heard that it has origins in the word “allah,” suggesting that something awesome has happened, by the hand of God or thank God or something. soccer is a type of religion in mexico and south america….

  i can’t tell you why spanish-speaking people with heavy christian/catholic influence would adopt an arabic/islamic word, but maybe they just liked the sound of it!

• The chant is just a way of cheering your team on and I dont know what it means but I think it is spanish and has the same meaning as when they say it in bullfights. Soccer is a very passionate sport and fans will sing songs altogether sometimes and it can sound beautiful. In Liverpool, England they sing the Beatles song Youll never walk alone during some games.
