My chi straightener stopped working. The red light doesn’t turn on and I’ve tried it in a lot of different outlets. The plug-in part of the straightener does not have a reset button so I do not know what to do. I’m hoping it’s not broken because I do not want to have to buy a new one so if anyone could help that would be great!

I also have a CHI straightener, I have the original model which does have a reset though. I work for a beauty supply store and this is the most common problem with CHI straighteners because the cord is so long. Most places will let you exchange with or without receipt if it’s been sixty days or less. If it’s been within a year your warranty with the manufacture should still be good. In most cases CHI will replace he flat iron for 0-30 dollars. Or you can try calling the customer service number. 1-800-237-9175

Plug it in and turn it on. Play around with the cord a little bit (mine has done this before) and see if the red light will eventually come on. Try bending it (not too much) and twisting it where the cord and the actual straightener meet. This does mean though that your straightener isn’t in perfect condition anymore but sometimes you can keep it working if you hold the cord a certain way while straightening your hair. Keep playing around with it while the switch is on and if you have no luck then I would just go buy a new one.

My chi wouldn’t turn on so I just took it apart and cleaned it. It seemed like the problem was the switch itself but I also cleaned the clear bit where the cord attatches(there was some grey buildup on it). I just used a DRY q-tip. there was a bunch of hair jammed in the switch’s metal box thing so I used some tweezers and got all the hair out. Put it back together and now it works like new!😃😃:)

My cousin has a similar problem. In the room you’re trying to use it in, make sure the lights are on. It could be the outlets aren’t active unless the light switch is on.

You might have to hit those little reset buttons that are in the outlets.

Did you try hitting the reset button on your bathroom outlet??
I sometimes have to do that.
