For two gases with molar masses M₁ and M₂, the relative rate of effusion is
(R₁ / R₂) = √(M₂ / M₁)
R₁ = rate of effusion of N₂
R₂ = rate of effusion of Xe
M₁ = molar mass N₂ = 28.014 g/mol
M₂ = molar mass Xe = 131.293 g/mol
(R₁ / R₂) = √(131.293 / 28.014) = 2.16
I arbitrarily wrote the answer to 3 sig figs. I’m not sure how many sig figs you need for your answer.
