    nine twenty-fifth means 9 out of 25 or 9/25.

number of students who did not like the book is

    ……= 9/25 • 100

    ……= 900 / 25

    ……= 36

number of students who like the book is

    ……= 100 – 36

    ……= 64

  • Nine twenty-fifths means 9 out of 25, or 9/25.

    The word “of” means multiply.

    So 9/25 of 100 students means 9/25 x 100 = 36.

so 36 is the number of students who didn’t like the book. There are 100 students in total, so 100 – 36 = 64.

Therefore, 64 students out of the 100 students liked the book

  • 9/25 did not like, so 16/25 did like it. (if you were really getting into it, you could say unknown, as liking a book is not black and white – some could say its so so, or just not care, but i doubt thats what the teach wants)

so, 16/25 like the book. multiply this by the entire population and you have your answer

16/25(100)=64, so 64 people liked the book

    make it a good day
