Why don’t you use mussels? Again. I think you wanted muscles. The muscles in my arms felt as tired as old mussels. Mussel is the common name used for members of several families of clams or bivalvia mollusca, from saltwater and freshwater habitats.
The jokey answer I’ve heard on this is “as tired as a one-armed paper hanger.” Another one is “as tired as a one-legged man in a backside-kicking contest.” You can probably imagine others along these lines.
