Songs that have symbolism in them?

NetherCraft 0

Could you give me a couple examples (or one if you only know one) of songs with symbolism? Also, explain the symbolism. I’m having trouble finding some for a project. Please make them school appropriate. Also, I prefer modern pop songs, or even a classic if you want, like The Beatles. Please help?

  • Fireworks by Katy Perry

Symbolism: “Let your colors burst” is about being confident and reaching your full potential.

Skysc ɾąքҽ r by Demi Lovato

Symbolism: “Go on and try to tear me down, I will be rising from the ground, like a skysc ɾąքҽ r” is about believing in yourself and staying strong not matter what people do to try to hurt you

    Who Says by Selena Gomez

Symbolism: “Who says you’re not perfect, who says you’re not worth it, who says you’re the only one who’s hurting” is kind of like Katy Perry’s song because its about embracing yourself and not letting anyone tear you down.

Born This Way by Lady Gɑɡa

Symbolism:” There’s nothin’ wrong with lovin’ who you are….. So hold your head up, girl and you’ll go far” is about how God made everyone perfect in their own way so don’t be afraid to be yourself

All of them have basically the same meaning or are linked together

  • Example Of Symbolism

  • One of the most classic symbolic songs of all time, written many years ago, is called “Stairway to Heaven.” It clearly symbolizes the story of believing that money can buy everything…..It is the story of a very rich lady, so spoiled by wealth, that she mistakenly believes she can actually buy her way into heaven…It opens…”There’s a lady who’s sure, all that glitters is Gold, and she’s buying the Stairway to Heaven…when she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed..with a word she can get what she came for..” The song is an acoustic song, and mesmerizing and will be remembered for all time as a symbolic classic. It was produced by the band Led Zepplin in the seventies and has endured for over 40 years as simply magnificent. The writer of it fell unconscious in the desert on a walk alone, and dreamed the words as he lay dying. He was rescued by his band members and sent to the hospital completely unconscious. When he came to..the first thing he asked for in the hospital was a pencil to write the magnificent words he had heard as he lay dying. It was an instant world wide hit, and remains so to this very day. Good luck. There is no greater symbolic song in the world in my opinion, and I am a singer, and guitarist who never ceases to be amazed at its awesome words, that could only have come from another realm.

Well, I know that the “little creepy girl” symbolizes Kerli when she was little. because of her living in Estonia and how singing and being creative wasn’t a good thing when she was little when there was still the soviet union. Basically, she talks about this “little creepy girl” and all this creepy stuff about her, but she has an amazing talent even though she’s so different. She can “set the world on fire”. Meaning she’s very powerful (personality wise) and has big opinions and meaning in her thoughts. And The “feel it, breathe it, believe it and you’ll be walking on air. Go try, go fly, so high. That you’ll be walking on air” Means that you can do anything you want to do as long as you set your mind to it and believe you can. You just have to be “brave” and anything is possible.

  • Lol. I think another good pick might be 99 Red Balloons, the translated version of course.. There are quite a few deep connections to be made in that song.

  • “Brain Damage” by Pink Floyd has lots of symbolism. Almost every lyric is not intended to be taken literally.
