The number you have dialed is not a working number?

NetherCraft 0

I called someone and instead of it ringing, I got the following message:

“The number you have dialed is not a working number. Please hang up & try your call again.”

Does this mean the person hasn’t paid their bill? Or does it mean they have changed their number or service?

They have (or had) cingular if that matters.

disconnected meaning they didn’t pay?

  • It could mean they didn’t pay.

It could mean they discontinued service purposely.

It could mean that the towers near them have problems (rare).

It could mean they switched to a different carrier.

It could just mean that they got a new number.

    In short, lots of possibilities.

    They…

  • Well, their number has obviously been disconnected for some reason. It could be that they didn’t pay their phone bill, or they could have just switched phone carriers. The only way to know for sure would be to somehow contact the person you’re trying to talk to, and ask them.

Well, if someone else answered the phone, he probably did change his number and now someone else claimed the number. But if that’s still his number, then you answered your own question.

  • Just happened to me. Per AT&T do the following:

    -Settings

    -General

    -Reset

    -Reset Network Settings

After phone resets you will have to reconnect to WIFI.
