Trying to use snes9x. Why no sound?

When I start snes9x it tells me

“Unable to initialize XAudio2. You will not be able to hear any sound effects or music while playing. It is usually caused by not having a recent DirectX release installed.”

I checked my version and I have DirectX 11. So what do I do to fix it?
