  • Lead Compliant

  • Examine carefully about ‘temptation’ (abstract): NKJV Matthew 6 <— contrasts Life and Death —> Ps 48 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Luke 4 13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. James 1 12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Matthew 26 <— contrasts Deliverance and Judgment —> Ps 48 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Luke 8 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 1 Timothy 6 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 2 Peter 2 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

Excellent question. You are spiritually and Theologically wise in discerning this problem in the “Lord’s Prayer”. In some Christian seminary final exams, that is sometimes the exact question. If any state that Jesus actually prayed to God: “Lead us not into temptation”, they flunk the exam and can not then become ordained as a Pastor. Here is what Jesus Christ actually prayed there in his prayer: “Save us in temptation, …” Jesus gave this prayer to his apostles and disciples who demanded a set prayer to teach to others. Jesus tried to get all humans to do spontaneous, Spirit-of-God-led prayers; but most were not ready. Today, more humans are ready to directly personally pray creatively in Spirit and in Truth, but they are still a minority. Human progress is slow, but certain; as God requires and invites our eventual complete perfection. “Be you perfect; even as I AM perfect” is God’s loving invitation-command to all humans and beings not yet all perfect in all aspects.
