Like if someone told you they would come within the next two weeks. Does that mean they will come within two weeks from the day they said it? or does it mean the following two weeks after two weeks from now?

It really depends on the person.
But, for me…if it were Wednesday (the 1st) and I said I’d come within the next two weeks I would mean either between the 1st and the 14th. So I usually say 2 weeks starting from the day I said it. However, a lot of people mean it in an approximate sense, so maybe they’re just saying around 2 weeks.

It means they would come at some point in the next two weeks from the day they said it.

you can expect them anytime during the 2 weeks after they said it.
example: if someone today said “I’ll come by within the next 2 weeks” you can expect them anytime from today the 15th to the 29th. that’s 2 weeks..but this term is used lightly sometimes so 2 weeks might really be 3 or 4 weeks. all depends on the person.

I wouldn’t worry about it. More than likely they didn’t mean anything by what they said other than the timeline they are looking at to hire someone. I would, however, write the people you interviewed with and e-mail thinking them for their time and if you don’t hear from them in a couple weeks, touch base to see what the status of your application is. Try not to stress too much about it, even if you don’t get this position, something else is sure to come around for you.
