Hi,
I have flex connector with FIP connection in the faucet side. The instructions are saying to use IPS. Are they the same? Can I just use the FIP (it seems to screw to the faucet fine).

FIP = Female Iron Pipe & IPS = Iron Pipe Size it’s all the same they are just telling you to use a connection that has a standard pipe thread like what you have, some hose ends have a compression fitting thread to attach to a shut-off valve in lieu of a copper pipe, compression nut,and ferrule. Threads located on the inside of a fitting are designated as female and if on the outside like on a pipe it’s male

fip= female iron pipe, ips = iron pipe size. Threaded adapters in plumbing are call iron pipe size because of old black iron pipe. Copper, cpvc, pex, and polybutylene have outside diameter that is smaller than iron pipe but inside diameter is same. To adapt threaded connections, they use iron pipe size as standard.
