  • C2H5OH(ethanol)

  • Remember, always OR part of an ester comes from alcohol i.e in R’COOR

    R’ come from carboxylic acid and R comes from alcohol

    To find alcohol responsible for the formation of ester just add OH to R i.e ROH

    In C2H5COOC2H5

    R = C2H5 so alcohol is C2H5OH (ethanol)

  • acid (carboxylic acid) + alcohol gives ester

    they gave you the acid, they gave you the ester, you can easily see the alcohol is ethanol

  • ethanol

  • 2C2H5COOH + 3C2H5OH = 3C2H5COOC2H5. Here’s what I got. It’s ethanol.

  • CH3CH2OH ie ethanol

  • C2H5OH
