    2 moles of benzene and 1 mol of octane = 3 moles

    benzene molar fraction = 2/3 = 0.667

    octane molar fraction = 1/3 = 0.333

    so

    P =0.667280 + 0.333400 mm Hg = 320 mm Hg

  • Mol weight of benzene C6H6 = 78 g/mol

    Mol weight of octane C8H18 = 114 g/mol

    mole fraction Benzene = 78/(78 + 114) = 0.41

    mole fraction octane =114/(78 +114) = 0.59

    p =0.41280 + 0.59400 mm Hg

    dvstudio08 is right! molar ratio is given 2:1. There is nothing to calculate with molar masses.
