I don’t know whether it’s x cubed (x^3) or 2x squared (2x^2).

x^2 + x = x(x+1)
It can be simplified to x(x+1).

X^2 + X

X squared can not combine with anything other than something that is squared. therefore, it’s already simplified.
and for everyone who put down 3X, think about it, look at the following.
X plus X plus X equals 3x
if X squared plus X equals 3X,
than X plus X plus X equals X squared plus X
subtract x from both sides
X plus X equals X squared
statement is false, therefore’ it can’t be 3x
by the way krista, youre wrong. you didn’t even prove your statement. and i’m 12 too, like it matters anyway.
Source(s): I’m in integrated two, so this problem is basic to me.
x^2 + x
It’s not x cubed because the only way you could add exponents is if you’re multiplying x^2 with x.
Plus, it’s not 2x^2 because the x only has a power of 1 while x^2 has a power of 2. They’re not like terms.
To tell you the truth, I don’t think there’s any solution for this problem except x^2 + x and x(x + 1).

x^2 + x

x square plus x is:
x^2 + x
or
x(x+1).
But it is not, under any circumstance, 3x (3x = x + x + x . x^2 = x * x . see the difference?)
I’ve included some links below that will help you understand the laws of exponents. I hope you take a look at them!

x²+x = x(x+1).

RE:
What is x squared plus x?

x X x + x
Its not 3x because say X was 3, 3 X 3 is 9, Plus 3 equals 12.

it is neither one, it is simple x squared plus x
you can not add 2 houses and two cars, they are completely different things, you can’t say you have 4 cars, can you?
