I am 25 years old and I still have a lot of pimples on my chin and cheeks. I use benzol peroixde, salisaic acid, sea breeze, oil of olay, etc. I wash my face at least twice a day and it still won’t go away. I’m tired of wasting my money. What can I do?

I tried Proactive also and this is what has worked the best for me…
I myself started getting acne in my 20’s and found a over-the-counter, low-cost solution that might work.
Start by washing your face with Cetaphil Gel Cleanser. It’s about $12 a bottle and can be found nearly anywhere that sells facial cleansers.
Dry your face and follow it up with Acne Treatment Gel, made by Mary Kay Cosmetics. You may have to order this as they don’t sell Mary Kay stuff in stores, but it only costs $7. The key ingredient in that product is Benzoyl Peroxide. Actually, if you check around in stores you should be able to find another product that contains it. BUT don’t use any acne gel or cream that contains more then 2% Benzoyl Peroxide…it’s too drying and can make your face even worse!
Once that dries (5-10 minutes), then apply Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer ($8).
Do this every night before you go to bed. In the morning, wash your face, and apply the moisturizer (you only need to use the acne gel at night). You should start to notice results within a week or two.
I’ve been doing this routine for 4 years now and have moved away from using the acne gel completely. Play around with the formula until you find what works best for you. But use Cetaphil products FOR SURE! They’re the best and I’ve tried everything!
Also, cut out caffeine. This makes your face break out also. I notice if I even have one soda with caffeine in it, my face breaks out.
And, you can also take daily doses of Vitamin C, Zinc and Niacin. The combination of these three supplements improve the overall look of your skin. Good luck!

Wash your face only 2x a day as overwashing will promote your skin to overproduce natural oils. I have clients who have switched from proactive and are happy with Avon products. Affordable and the best part is products are backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back! That way you can try and try until you find something right for YOU.

If you don’t moisturize, your skin will overproduce natural oils. Sounds like a lot, but they are very affordable and great products. Works for people I know.

I used to have serious acne problems too, I’ve used everything probably just like you have, and ironically you wanna know what works best? Nothing at all. If you wash the natural oils off your face too much it becomes dry and more prone to acne. Your skin will also become dependent on benzol perioxide or any other treatment. Try for 2 weeks just not washing your face with any medicated face washes. Use wash cloth and warm water to clean your face once a day or less and see if your skin improves.

VISIT A DERMATOLOGIST!
I had the same problem. Before using Proactiv, I had used about everything else on the market and none of it worked. Then when I used practiv, the acne went away for a few months but then came back EVEN WORSE after. I was convinced I needed the help of a dermatologist…so I went… and I’m much better now. Trust me, it’s the best option because they actually analyze your skin type and your problem. Much better than using OTC stuff, which is like the most mild, ineffective products and the trial-and-error part of finding the right treatment gets pretty tiring.

you are over stimulating your skin using all these products on your face alot of what you are using is actually stripping your skin. Try Anti-bac facial wash made by dermalogica it will help to control the amount of excess oil your skin is producing stopping the build up of unwanted spots. Find a salon near you that stocks dermalogica and go and get some samples of it first so you no it works before you buy it but you will notice the difference within a week. alot of the dermatologists recommend dermalogica. Also remember to increase the amount of water intake
good luck

Try Milk of Magnesia. It works great and is so cheap. Keep away from eye area. Apply with cotton ball, let dry 15-20 min., rinse well. With active pimples, I apply MOM right to the pimple and leave on as long as possible. Then rinse well. It should clear up your face in a few days!!

Try Clinique, it is a 3 step product set and I have seen it clear many faces including my son’s who is 20. I have had success with proactive myself but what works for one doesn’t always work for another. If you have tried the others, it can’t hurt to try Clinique, you can get it from any of the larger department stores like Macy’s or Dillard’s.I think it costs around $50 but I am not positive on that.

I would make an appointment to see a dermotologist and he could prescribe you some type of acne medicine that will problably work. Thats much better than throwing your money on several different items that do not work..

i used it too.. the acids in the entire system kill all of you cells on your face. when they grow back, they are immune to the system… try a gentle facial cleaser..i use PURPOSE it’s no where near as expensive as proactiv, they also sell a redness reducing cream.it really worked well for me.
