What the heck does 2.5 bathrooms mean?

A “half bath” has no bath, just a toilet and a sink.
So there are 2 full bathrooms in the house, and a “half bath”, which is usually near the kitchen and dining and living rooms.

A half bathroom means that it only has a sick and a toilet. No shower or bathtub. A quarter bathroom would probably only have a sink or toilet, not both. It could also mean that there is only one full bathroom and that the other two are a three quarters bathroom and a half bathroom. The three quarters bathroom would have a bathtub or shower and either a sink or a toilet.

2 full bathrooms and a half bathroom. A half bathroom is usually a lot smaller than a full one and will only have a toilet and maybe a sink, but there won’t be a shower or a bathtub and sometimes there’s no towel closet either.

A full bathroom comes equipped with a sink toilet and either shower or bathtub, a half bathroom is usually just a toilet and sink, no bathtub or shower. So the house would have two bathrooms with bathtubs or showers, and one without.
