I know that Jamie kept having visions of Michael Myers throughout the movie, however i don’t understand why she went and killed her mother at the end. Is she possessed like him? And why was Michael trying to kill her? I only thought he was out to kill his family and not cousins/nieces…etc.?

Cousins/nieces are family members.
Michal hears that Laurie Strode, his sister, is deceased, but her daughter, Jamie Lloyd, is alive. Apparently since he can not take revenge on his sister, who escaped him in Halloween II and with Dr. Loomis defeated him; Michael intends to kill Jamie instead.
Is she possessed like him?
Well at the end she did the same that Michael did in Halloween I, right?
” Jamie puts on her clown mask and stabs her foster mother. Dr. Loomis attempts to shoot her but Sheriff Meeker prevents it. The film ends with a shot of a masked Jamie, covered in blood, holding a pair of bloody scissors while Loomis, Meeker, Rachel, and Jamie’s foster father look on in horror.”

Yes, Jamie is the daughter of Laurie Strode( Jamie Lee Curtis) Michael Myers, who survived the explosion at the end of Halloween II and has been in a coma since, escapes while being transferred from one sanitarium to another, killing the driver and paramedics inside the ambulance in which he was riding. Prior to escaping, Michael learns that Jamie Lloyd, Laurie Strode’s daughter and his own niece, is alive in Haddonfield, Illinois. Jamie, who has been adopted by the Carruthers family, knows of her uncle but does not know he is also the man she has nightmares about. Dr. Loomis, who also survived the explosion 10 years earlier, learns of Michael’s escape and resumes his pursuit.

When she touched Michael’s hand his “evilness” passed onto her.

Like she went mad from all she had to deal with.
