Will 60% cotton 40% polyester shirt shrink?

NetherCraft 0

I bought a size small shirt and when I tried it on it was bigger than I expected. I just washed it in hot water and it is drying on high heat as I write this. Will it shrink? I only need it to shrink a little.

I googled it and some say no, some say yeah, some say temporarily. I’ll find out soon but I’m just curious.

  • Yes 60% cotton and 40% polyester shirt shrink.

  • no it won’t shrink enough for it to make a difference in size, that ꜱᴜcκs lol, you can alter it with a needle and some thread, there are tips on how to make things smaller like jeans and shirts.

my 100% cotton white t’s barely shrink 10% or less..

  • It will shrink a little if it s a 100% cotton

  • The cotton fibers try to shrink and they may succeed a bit but the polyester fibers prevent them from going too far.

  • No,polyester will not shrink & that is why it is mixed with the cotton.

  • Probably not. Polyester doesn’t shrink.

  • I would return it and get one that fits you. See if this will get the stain out of your old shirt rub some liquid Tide detergent in to the stain and let it set for 10-15 minutes and then wash it like normal. Can’t hurt to try it.

  • If it has a tag, then check the laundering directions on it. If it has no tag, try different methods in attempt to shrink it. Your idea seems like a great start to shrinking the shirt!

  • 60/40 no that is why they use that mix

  • It may shrink a little, not much.
